Fronted by lead singer/guitarist Richard Patrick, Filter emerged in 1995 with the album Short Bus and breakthrough single "Hey Man, Nice Shot," which Rolling Stone called, "a timely combinations of grunge heat and industrial ice, raw emotion riding a steel pulse of digital rhythm." That hit, plus the song "Dose," represent the band's landmark debut on the career-spanning (to date), compilation The Very Best Things (1995-2008), Filter's first-ever retrospective set. Highlights from the 14-track collection also include five cuts from their '98 platinum Billboard Top 40 album Title Of Record, among them rare radio edits for the singles "Welcome To The Fold" and "Take A Picture," the latter a #12 smash. The evolution of Filter's music is also revealed through four songs previoulsy available only on soundtrack albums as well as the 2008 track "Soldiers Of Misfortune" from their most recent studio release Anthems For The Damned.
